From our Club Captain

We want you on the beach

Thank you to everyone who filled out the returning patrol member form and the Operational Committee EOI. It's been great to see so much enthusiasm for the season ahead, and to hear how you'd like to be involved.

A massive thank you to our returning Captains, Vice-Captains and Mentors for putting their hands up again. Having so much experience back gives us a really strong foundation and great continuity across our patrols. We also have members stepping into leadership for the first time, and I'm looking forward to seeing them bring their own ideas and energy to their squads.

Whether you're a returning patroller, stepping into leadership, coming back after a few seasons away or new to the club, patrols are about more than keeping the public safe. They're about friendships, teamwork, learning, and being part of something bigger than yourself. With the new clubhouse coming together, this is a particularly exciting season.

Significant patrols

Some of the most fun and memorable days on the beach. Significant patrols run across Victoria to spotlight causes that matter to lifesavers, and each squad has been allocated dates to run them.

Volunteer patrols run every weekend and public holiday from Saturday 21 November 2026 to Sunday 11 April 2027.

Shoulder season

21 Nov – 20 Dec 2026

Saturday 1pm – 4pm
Sunday 10am – 4pm
Peak · patrols to 6pm Main season

26 Dec 2026 – 31 Jan 2027

Saturday 1pm – 6pm
Sunday & public holidays 10am – 6pm
Post-season

6 Feb – 11 Apr 2027

Saturday 1pm – 4pm
Sunday 10am – 4pm
Lifeguard service

29 Dec 2026 – 25 Jan 2027

Paid lifeguards cover weekdays and Saturday mornings, including public holidays, with at least two on duty.

Mon – Fri 10am – 6pm
Saturday 10am – 1pm

Get more involved

Sorrento SLSC volunteers on water safety Extra patrols

Jump on another patrol

Pick up extra patrols when you can, even on days you're not rostered. It's a great way to build experience, meet members from other squads and help out on busy weekends. Check with that squad's Captain first.

Express your interest

Final appointments will be announced shortly, and the EOI is still open. You don't need a specific role in mind. If you'd like to get more involved or chat about what might suit you, reach out.

Requalify and level up

Every patroller completes a skills maintenance course each season. Requalify before 31 December 2026, and talk to Jeff about your next award, from IRB Crew to Advanced Resuscitation.
